Rico’s vision started to blur at the edges. He hated this part. Not the danger—danger was his business partner. It was the indignity. He was the Scorpion, the agent of chaos who had toppled a dozen dictators. And yet here he was, being choked by a video game mechanic because he wanted a free ride. He had a choice
He fired his grappling hook. The line snagged the limo’s rear bumper with a metallic clink . And then he was flying. Rico ignored it
He grappled onto the rear APC as it rounded a coastal hairpin. A quick thwip of his parachute, a mid-air reel, and he was on the roof, prying the hatch open with a crowbar born of pure disrespect for private property. The driver didn’t even have time to scream. Rico yanked him out, tossed him into the jungle canopy like a used candy wrapper, and took the wheel.
General Sastro’s convoy was a fortress on wheels. Four APCs, two attack choppers, and a limousine so armored it probably had its own gravitational field. The only way in was to make a hole. And Rico’s favorite way to make a hole was to turn one of their own vehicles into a high-speed, low-drag battering ram.
