Mary sighed. “What do you want me to do?”

Sheldon finally looked up. “I want you to explain why adults value social harmony over truth. If you cannot, I will have to conclude that adulthood is a neurological disorder.”

Sheldon tilted his head. “That seems unrelated.”

Mary was quiet for a moment. Then she smiled. “You know what your daddy said when I told him I thought I was marrying a man who’d never learn to pick up his socks?”
