Today, the HHAL boasts over 350 members, ranging from emerging high school talents to master signature members of the American Watercolor Society. The League began modestly in the early 1980s. A handful of artists, mostly retirees who had traded snow shovels for paintbrushes, gathered in a small community room to sketch live models and critique each other's watercolors.
