Season 9 Of Friends Review

When people talk about the decline of Friends , Season 9 is usually ground zero. Wedged between the emotional high of Monica and Chandler’s wedding (S7), the will-they-won’t-they climax of Ross and Rachel (S8), and the saccharine series finale (S10), Season 9 is the awkward, sweaty, chaotic middle child.

The writers were terrified of ending the Ross/Rachel will-they-won’t-they, so they manufactured the only obstacle left: Rachel falling for the other male lead. It didn’t work. It broke the audience’s trust. And yet, we still quote “ My sandwich? ” and “ I’m fine! ” (from S9’s “The One in Barbados,” Part 2). season 9 of friends
