This year’s main event was the Spire Ascent , a 5-kilometer vertical dash up the Crystal Needle, a twisted shard of obsidian and glass that pierced the clouds. The prize wasn't a medal. It was a single wish, granted by the mysterious Architect who built the Prism.
Jian laughed bitterly. "The wish doesn't work that way. One wish, one winner." poly track games g+
Jian saw her moment. She ran up the falling debris, using it as a stepping stone, her Friction power allowing her to treat tumbling rock as a staircase. She vaulted past both of them, latching onto the Needle's surface and making it as rough as sandpaper for her fingers alone. She climbed like a spider. This year’s main event was the Spire Ascent
But Vikram didn't slide. He waited for a chunk of loose masonry to fall from above, then stole its downward momentum. The rock froze in midair. Vikram, however, rocketed upward at a sickening angle, overtaking Kael in a blur of borrowed speed. As he passed, he grinned. "Thanks for the lift, gravity boy." Jian laughed bitterly
Vikram arrived last, his face pale, new lines around his eyes. He looked at the two of them—Kael barely holding consciousness, Jian twitching as her Friction flickered unpredictably—and made a choice. He could drain them both, steal their kinetic energy, and win easily. But the aging would be brutal. He might cross the finish line a corpse.
Jian hesitated, then sighed. "Fine. But I'm not carrying anyone."
"Cheap," she hissed.
