“You’re watching this,” the man said. Not a question. His accent was unplaceable—maybe Spanish, maybe Eastern European, maybe neither.
A whisper. Crackling. Then a voice, old and dry as dust, speaking in a language Alex didn’t recognize. It sounded like commands.

On screen, the man stood up. He walked to a painting of a mountain lake, pushed it aside, and revealed a steel door with a single keyhole.
The camera zoomed in slowly. The key had a number etched on its bow: 05. A whisper
But the audio kept playing.
