Hey everyone,
Hope this helps someone else digging this old tank out of the closet. The E6420 refuses to die! "Can confirm this works on Windows 11 22H2. Thanks!"
I just picked up an old Dell Latitude E6420 and I’m trying to get everything working on Windows 10 (and maybe 11). In Device Manager, I see a device listed under "Other devices" called with a yellow exclamation mark. dell e6420 broadcom ush
I just fixed this on my own E6420 yesterday. Here is the deal:
I’ve done some searching, but most links are dead or point to Dell’s old Windows 7 drivers. Hey everyone, Hope this helps someone else digging
Yes, but only if you use the correct version and a specific install method. The automatic installer usually fails on Windows 10/11.
The Broadcom USH (Unified Security Hub) is the driver for the built-in fingerprint reader and smart card reader . Without this driver, Windows sees the hardware but doesn't know what to do with it. Thanks
Even with the driver installed, Windows Hello (face/fingerprint login) will not work natively. You must install the "Dell Data Protection | Security Tools" software from the same driver page to enroll fingerprints for Windows login.
