Black Lagoon: Roberta May 2026

He was a ruin of a man. Colonel Miguel Ochoa was withered, his skin yellowed, his head bald and spotted with lesions. An oxygen tube snaked into his nose. But his eyes—those cold, clever eyes—were still sharp as shards of glass.

“Ah, but you see,” he said, and he smiled. It was a terrible, triumphant smile. “I am not the one you should be aiming at.”

Roberta walked toward him, her footsteps slow and deliberate. She stopped in front of his wheelchair, looking down at the pathetic, broken creature that had once been her mentor. black lagoon: roberta

“She’s right,” the scarred man muttered. “This ain’t worth it.”

“I am hunting a man,” Roberta said. “His name is Colonel Miguel Ochoa. In another life, he was my commanding officer in the now-defunct Venezuelan intelligence. He taught me everything. How to kill a man with a pencil. How to blend into any crowd. How to disappear. And how to betray a cause.” He was a ruin of a man

She lifted the rifle, sighting down the barrel at a stained-glass window of a saint. The saint’s face was long gone, shattered by some long-ago bullet.
