For most individual users and small teams, the free version is sufficient. Large construction firms often purchase Pro for centralized coordination. GRAPHISOFT has committed to the Open BIM initiative via IFC (Industry Foundation Classes). However, the BIMx Viewer does not directly open IFC files—it requires conversion through Archicad or the BIMx Exporter tool. This lock-in effect is a criticism. bimx viewer free download
