Here’s a deep, critical review of — though it’s worth clarifying first: Nexus is not a standalone expansion or game, but rather a community-driven mod/content hub and a gameplay mod (sometimes confused with the official Age of Empires IV mod platform, often called “Nexus Mods” or specific total conversion mods like Nexus: Age of Empires IV ).
The mod succeeds in making AoE4 feel deeper and more tactical, but technical instability and a fragmented multiplayer scene hold it back. If the modding tools improve (or if Relic integrates some of these ideas officially), Nexus could become the definitive way to play AoE4.
